Observation · Reflection · Question

Daily Shift

See one thing differently before the day gets hold of you.

  • 01One real observation.
  • 02One reflection.
  • 03One question to carry into the day.

Read in under a minute.

Origin

It began with paying attention.

When the pandemic disrupted almost everything familiar in March 2020, I started recording what I noticed.

Not because I planned to publish it, but because the world had changed and I was trying to understand what that disruption revealed.

By March 2026, those observations had filled almost 3,000 pages: conversations, places, contradictions and questions I could not answer. Small moments that changed how I understood people, work, identity and the choices we make.

Daily Shift turns one of those observations into a reflection for the day ahead.

Not a summary of what happened, but a different way of seeing it.

The comfort of knowing

We like knowing what happens next. It is why forecasts have numbers, strategies have timelines and plans stretch years into a future nobody has visited yet.

There is nothing wrong with planning. The problem begins when the plan quietly becomes a promise, and we stop noticing what has changed around it. Certainty feels reassuring precisely because uncertainty does not.

The question

What are you treating as certain today that is really only an assumption?
